Environmental standards
Evidence before endorsement.
Our review process examines individual claims and their limits. A company-wide label cannot prove every product has a lower impact.
- Identify the exact claim. Record the product, market, material percentage, comparison baseline and date.
- Trace the evidence. Prefer current certification registers, published methods and reports with a defined scope. Record company statements separately.
- Examine the lifecycle. Consider production, transport, use, maintenance and disposal. Document missing information.
- Check practical access. A take-back or recycling scheme is useful only if the buyer can actually use it.
- Describe the trade-offs. Include durability, price, limitations and the option of keeping an existing product.
- Revisit the conclusion. Recheck before a campaign and when evidence changes; aim to review commercial profiles at least every six months.
What our labels mean
- Company-reported
- A statement attributed to the business; not independently established by us.
- Source checked
- We checked the cited document and its date. This does not certify the entire company.
- Third-party certification checked
- The named certification, product scope and validity date were checked against its issuer.
- Under review / evidence needed
- Our assessment is incomplete. This is not an endorsement.
We do not award invented star ratings, sell verification badges or describe products as impact-free.
